Setup guides and troubleshooting for CarPlay, Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, widgets, and StandBy.

1. CarPlay setup

Caraoke mirrors real-time synchronized lyrics to CarPlay using ActivityKit and CarPlay widgets.

1. Connect your iPhone to your car via wireless or wired CarPlay.
2. Open Caraoke on your iPhone and toggle Live Lyrics on.
3. Start playing music in Spotify or Apple Music.
4. On the CarPlay screen, switch to the dashboard view to see lyrics alongside maps.

CarPlay interaction is read-only by design — no tapping required, and nothing to configure while driving.

2. Lock Screen & Dynamic Island

On iPhone 14 Pro and later, lyrics also appear in the Dynamic Island while music plays.

Enable

1. Toggle Live Lyrics on in Caraoke.
2. Start playing music.
3. Lyrics appear automatically on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

If lyrics don't appear

• Toggle Live Lyrics off and on again.
• Restart Caraoke.
• Confirm Live Activities are enabled in iOS Settings → Caraoke.

3. Home Screen widgets

Caraoke offers Small, Medium, and Large widgets.

Add a widget

1. Long-press the Home Screen.
2. Tap + in the top-left corner.
3. Search for Caraoke.
4. Pick a size and tap Add Widget.

Widget features

• Vinyl animation: the disc rotates while music plays.
• Tap to refresh: tap the vinyl or album art to fetch lyrics immediately.
• Themes: Pitch Black, Slate, or Ivory White in widget settings.
• StandBy: place the iPhone horizontally on a charger for full-screen lyrics.

4. StandBy mode

Place your iPhone horizontally on a MagSafe charger for full-screen lyrics on a nightstand or desk.

1. Add the Caraoke widget to your StandBy screen.
2. Place the iPhone horizontally on a charger.
3. Start playing music — lyrics appear full-screen.

5. Troubleshooting

Lyrics not updating, or stuck on "Paused"

Make sure either Apple Music or Spotify is selected as the active source. If you use Spotify, confirm the authorization completed (Settings → Music Sources).

Widget not updating automatically

iOS limits how often widgets may refresh. To force an update, tap the vinyl disc or album art in the widget, or enable Live Lyrics for real-time updates.

Missing lyrics for some songs

Caraoke queries multiple lyrics providers with automatic fallback:

• LRCLIB first (primary source).
• NetEase second (fallback source).
• If neither has the track, synced lyrics simply may not exist for it.

Spotify keeps disconnecting

1. Open Settings → Music Sources → Spotify Setup.
2. Re-authorize Spotify.
3. If it persists, use your own Custom Client ID (section 6).

Lyrics feel out of sync

Seek within the track once; Caraoke re-aligns to the playback position reported by the music source. Bluetooth latency in some cars can shift the perceived timing by a fraction of a second.

6. Custom Spotify Client ID

Power users can supply their own Spotify developer credentials instead of the shared default.

1. Open the Spotify Developer Dashboard.
2. Create an app and copy the Client ID.
3. In Caraoke: Settings → Music Sources → Spotify Setup → Advanced.
4. Paste the Client ID and save.

7. Subscription & billing

Every plan starts with a 3-day free trial, and all plans unlock the same full feature set — Live Lyrics, CarPlay, Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, widgets, and future updates.

• Monthly: $1.99/month

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions). Use Restore purchases in the app to recover an existing purchase on a new device.
